Central Washington Open's]
Well the 6th tournament of the central Washington open series is over and again another cash. This was by far one of the tougher patterns i have seen at any of the centrals. We were at Spare Time Lanes in Kennewick WA for this event. 44 bowlers showed up so 14 were going to the finals for a check. The shot was a modified pattern that was a high volume across the lane with no noticeable taper. Well the start was looking real bad right out the gate a open up with 1 wash out and 2 splits and i fail to convert any of them, i only strike once in the first game for a whopping 155 game. During this game i was trying my Storm Domination that is laid out with a 5x3 drilling and it was just playing to inconsistent. The next game i switch to my attitude shift and move in to 25 with my feet trying to stay real tight to the head pin. a little better result shooting 172. At this point the cut is at +5. in the 3rd game i move 2 right with my feet and change my break point to 15 i start out with a double but not much more, ending with a 186 now i am -86 with the cut line at +10.
During the 4th game i decide to take a risk i knew i could not grind out the rest of the day and make the cut so i switch to my Jolt Particle that has a 35 deg pin and 35 deg val layout, i then tilt up my hand and slow down this was the change i needed a fire a 256 game putting me at -30 and back in the hunt the cut line also drop's to -5. In the 5th game i stay with the jolt and shoot 214 missing to 6 pins to the right. this puts me at -16 they then announce that the cut is now -17. This is where i need to be. In the final game of qualifying i stay hot and shoot a 221 to move to +5 the cut into the finals drop's to -17 and i qualify 10th. In match play i face Pat Cochran i end up winning 186 to 170's but stay in 10th tied with Chad demmitt. So now facing chad i shoot my lowest score of the year a 129 game the had 4 splits in frames 3-6 i dropped to 13th and face another gentleman. (Sorry don't remember his name but i wind up winning 187 to 175 in the last game setting in 12th i face Jim Cochran, but i couldn't keep up and lose 226 to 245. But i held on for 12th place good enough for a check . also thanks to my 691 for the last 3 games i cashed well in the brackets. So all in all a good day in which i had to battle but overcame a terrible start.
I wont be at the next central in ellensburg because me and Larry Ek will be bowling the Pacific N.W Senior open doubles at Mt Hood lanes in Gresham Oregon. So until next post keep firing those bullets to the pocket.
