    N.W Senior Tour Open Doubles

Tuesday, February 12, 2008, 10:59 AM PST [Misc Tournaments]

Well all i can say is what a trip. This has become a annual event for myself and my doubles partner Larry Ek. This year the tournament is at Mt hood lanes in Gresham, Or. all i can say is crazy we get ready to leave on saturday and it's freezing rain here in Walla Walla. but we decide to go anyway so off to portland. Well around Pendleton Oregon a Pickup in front of us losses control on the slick roads and jump the middle devide flips and ends up on the east bound side of the Highway. We stop along with some other people and help the drive out until the police arive. so back on are trip, Slow Going untill we reach Hood River. The closed I-84 and sent us to Washington 14 to finish are trip. This went well for about 15 miles until another accident closed WA-14 so we are now in traffic deadlock for 2 hours. They then open I-84 back up, so we backtrack back to Hood River. We finally make it to are hotel at 10:30 P.M 10 hours to portland when it only takes 4 1/2. As far as the bowling i ended up +91 for 5 games but Larry was 30 under not good enough to make the cut but i was happy with my shooting. I really had to fan the ball to get the 10 pin out and i felt a did that very well. The trip home was alot better only 7 1/2 hours with alot of snow. so all in all we spent more time driving this weekend than in portland, But still a good trip

Central Washington open Spare time lanes

Wednesday, January 9, 2008, 10:34 AM PST [Central Washington Open's]

Well the 6th tournament of the central Washington open series is over and again another cash. This was by far one of the tougher patterns i have seen at any of the centrals. We were at Spare Time Lanes in Kennewick WA for this event. 44 bowlers showed up so 14 were going to the finals for a check. The shot was a modified pattern that was a high volume across the lane with no noticeable taper. Well the start was looking real bad right out the gate a open up with 1 wash out and 2 splits and i fail to convert any of them, i only strike once in the first game for a whopping 155 game. During this game i was trying my Storm Domination that is laid out with a 5x3 drilling and it was just playing to inconsistent. The next game i switch to my attitude shift and move in to 25 with my feet trying to stay real tight to the head pin. a little better result shooting 172. At this point the cut is at +5. in the 3rd game i move 2 right with my feet and change my break point to 15 i start out with a double but not much more, ending with a 186 now i am -86 with the cut line at +10.

During the 4th game i decide to take a risk i knew i could not grind out the rest of the day and make the cut so i switch to my Jolt Particle that has a 35 deg pin and 35 deg val layout, i then tilt up my hand and slow down this was the change i needed a fire a 256 game putting me at -30 and back in the hunt the cut line also drop's to -5. In the 5th game i stay with the jolt and shoot 214 missing to 6 pins to the right. this puts me at -16 they then announce that the cut is now -17. This is where i need to be. In the final game of qualifying i stay hot and shoot a 221 to move to +5 the cut into the finals drop's to -17 and i qualify 10th. In match play i face Pat Cochran i end up winning 186 to 170's but stay in 10th tied with Chad demmitt. So now facing chad i shoot my lowest score of the year a 129 game the had 4 splits in frames 3-6 i dropped to 13th and face another gentleman. (Sorry don't remember his name but i wind up winning 187 to 175 in the last game setting in 12th i face Jim Cochran, but i couldn't keep up and lose 226 to 245. But i held on for 12th place good enough for a check . also thanks to my 691 for the last 3 games i cashed well in the brackets. So all in all a good day in which i had to battle but overcame a terrible start.

I wont be at the next central in ellensburg because me and Larry Ek will be bowling the Pacific N.W Senior open doubles at Mt Hood lanes in Gresham Oregon. So until next post keep firing those bullets to the pocket.

    Central Washington Open Atomic Lanes

Wednesday, December 12, 2007, 10:44 AM PST [Central Washington Open's]

The 5th Central event was held at atomic lanes in Richland Washington. This event was also a modified house pattern . It was also the first of 2 doubles events for the season my partner as always was my good friend Larry Ek . Well the pattern started out as a higher volume pattern with OB outside of 10. no problem out comes the Storm Attitude shift with a 500 surface and a 5x4 layout. i try to throw the track the first couple frames but is is very inconsistent. so i make a great move i start laying the ball down at 25 with a break point of 16 making sure i chase right up the back of the ball, and kept my speed up. WHAM first game i shoot 245. game 2 same thing and fire a 242. the 3rd game no one has really moved in so im by myself and fire a 235 in the 4th game a started catching some early burn so i made a switch to my spit fire and made a 3 board move right i grind out for a 200 on the nose. the 5th game i go back to the shift and start laying the ball down at 30 with a break point at 17 back on the board with a 227 in the 5th game i fire another 245 game and to finish qualifying i shoot a 206. Larry also did well ending +82 to give us +282 good enough for 6th place and a spot in match play. The first game of match play we cross with the eventual champions, Curtis and Cruz. Curtis fires a 240 game against larry's 200 game but i blow out cruz by stoning a 8 pin in the first frame then throwing the next 10 and finishing out with a ringing 10 pin for 289. This jumps us up to second place. The next match we face Tony Trethaway team and i shoot 226 and larry fires a 230 game to take the match and the lead. in game 3 We ran up against Rob Rice and Steve young.the game was low scoring and we fell this dropped us to 6th place with a final match up against garry harm and brad morrow. onece again we were bested and ended up in 8th place for a check and i did well in bracket so over all a great day. See you at the next Central at Spare Time Lanes in Kennewick Washington
